Full description

The Silver Dawn was the first Rolls-Royce to be offered with a factory built body, as all the other previous cars produced by the British manufacturer had Coachbuilder bodies on Rolls-Rolls chassis. The Silver Dawn was produced between 1949 and 1955 as an export model only. It was not officially available in the UK market until 1953.

A Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn was delivered new in October 1952 to the well-known collector Francis V. DuPont, son of the President of DuPont Corporation. Chassis LSKE40 is referred to as “The Ex-DuPont Car”, and was used as his personal car.

The Silver Dawn shared its platform and body with the Bentley Mk. VI and, from 1952, with the Bentley R Type. Only 761 cars were made, out of which 64 were special body.

The car had the traditional Rolls-Royce riveted chassis until 1953, when a welded chassis was introduced. Brakes were servo-assisted drums on the front of the car and mechanical on the rear.

The 6-cylinder engine was powerful enough to propel the car to 151 Km/h. 4-speed manual or automatic transmissions were available

The car has 61,268 miles on board (approx. 98,601 km).
