An official factory-bodied Shooting Brake version of the Shadow never existed, but that did not deter those wealthy enough from commissioning their own, this example being created at the behest of the late John Entwistle, legendary bass guitarist with 'The Who'. The coachbuilder is not known, but Bonhams sold a similar car that had been converted by FLM (Panelcraft) Ltd of South London.

The vendor purchased this car from John Entwhistle's wife and the car has been kept at an estate in Perthshire, Scotland where it was mainly used for grouse shooting.

Full description

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was a luxury car that was produced in Great Britain in various forms from 1965 to 1980. It was the first Rolls-Royce to use a monocoque chassis, a response to concerns that the company was falling behind in automotive innovation. To date, the Silver Shadow has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce.

The Shadow featured a 172 hp 6.2 L V8 from 1965 to 1969, and a 189 hp 6.75 L V8 from 1970 to 1980. Both power plants were coupled to a General Motors – sourced Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission, except on pre-1970 right hand drive models, which used the same 4-speed automatic gearbox as the Silver Cloud (also sourced from GM).

Starting 1977, the model was renamed the Silver Shadow II in recognition of several major changes, most notably rack and pinion steering; modifications to the front suspension improved handling markedly.

There was never an official factory-bodied Shooting Brake version of the Shadow but that did not deter those wealthy enough from commissioning their own, this example being created at the behest of the late john Entwistle, legendary bass guitarist with 'The Who'. The coachbuilder is not known, but Bonhams sold a similar car that had been converted by FLM (Panelcraft) Ltd of South London.

The vendor purchased this car from john Entwistle's wife and the car has been kept at an estate in Perthshire, Scotland where it was mainly used for grouse shooting.

The car has been restored by the Tiriac Collection workshop. It has covered 115.498 miles (approx. 186.000 km).
