The BMW 600 Isetta was a four-seat micro car produced by BMW from mid-1957 until November 1959. Partially based on the BMW 300 Isetta two-seater, it was BMW's first postwar four seat economy car.
The car is also named “the rolling egg”.
The BMW 600 is a four-seat micro car produced by BMW from mid-1957 until November 1959. Partially based on the BMW 300 Isetta two-seater, it was BMW's first postwar four seat economy car.
Isetta 600 had a bigger engine, extended chassis and right side door for the rear seat passengers. Power came from a bored-out BMW R50 motorcycle engine. Produced for only 3 years, its appearance amply justified its nickname, "das rollende Ei", the rolling egg, but its economy and practicality and its imaginative packaging with a single opening front door that carries with it the universal-jointed steering column and wheel have endeared the BMW Isetta in both 2 and 4 seat versions to generations.
The Isetta 600 is more practical than the Isetta 300, with sufficient power to propel it over 100 km/h, wider rear track that improves its stability and room enough for four (close) friends to enjoy the experience.
The car was stored for three decades in Colorado, and in 2013 it was completely restored.
This car has covered 42 km.
