Full description

Founded by Henry Leland and Robert Faulconer, the Cadillac Automobile Company of Detroit completed its first car in October 1902. In 1901, Olds Motor Works had contracted to supply engines made by Leland. When unforeseen circumstances derailed that plan, Leland and Faulconer formed their own company with funds provided by two former employees of Henry Ford. The company, which has always been innovative in automotive engineering, continues to produce cars that are symbols of wealth and prestige everywhere.

Cadillac reached a peak in 1950. For the first time in its 48-year history, Cadillac sold more than 100,000 new cars, nearly doubling its sales from just two years earlier and eventually overtaking Packard. A total of 103,857 cars were sold, with the 100,000th car rolling off the assembly line on November 16, 1950.

The name Cadillac has been associated with celebrity for years, being the car of choice for movie stars, pop singers, royalty, gangsters, captains of industry, and politicians.

This example is on the '75' chassis, which was reserved for the largest Cadillac models and was usually fitted with a sedan body by General Motors. This car belonged to one of the world's most famous heads of state, former Argentine President Juan Perón and his wife María Eva Duarte de Perón. There are numerous pictures
showing the president and Eva in the back seats of the Cadillac on their way to state events.
