Full description

A Spanish artillery captain, meanwhile, a successful entrepreneur, began manufacturing electric cars in 1898 in Barcelona. His name was Emilio de la Cuadra, and a few years later he met the Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt during a visit to Paris. He became his employee at the factory in Spain and in 1901 they brought out the first gasoline engine of Birkigt's own design. From 1904, the factory continued to develop as “La Hispano Suiza Fabrica de Automoviles”, based in Barcelona.

In a short time, however, the French market proved to be better than the Spanish one. In 1911, near Paris, the Hispano France factory was inaugurated, and in 1914 production was moved to a huge factory in Bois-Colombes, but the name returned to Hispano Suiza.

The model exposed was purchased in 2019 and restoration work began in 2020. For almost 3 years this car has been intensively restored in the Tiriac Collection workshop by a dedicated team of mechanics.

The car was completely dismantled, the wooden chassis and door frames rebuilt and replaced. Sheet metal parts were sandblasted and repaired.

Special attention was also paid to the engine, which was disassembled, repaired and is now in excellent running order. The brakes were reconditioned and the car was fully painted in the original colors.

Inside, the upholstery was changed, using materials and techniques from the period in which the car was produced.
