Istorie

Jaguar Mark V was launched at the London Motor Show in 1948. It retained the 1938 driveline as did its predecessor, the Mark IV.

The car left its screen print in 2013, in the movie A New York Heartbeat, the story of the heroic journey of a young gang leader in New York in the late 1950s, starring actor Eric Roberts.

Full description

Only two engines were on offer for the new Mark V, either 2,664 cc with 104 hp or, the more popular, 3,486 cc with 126 hp.

The new chassis had independent front suspension, hydraulic 4-wheel brakes and an all pressed steel body.

Two body styles were available, 4-door saloon and a drophead coupe. The leaping jaguar radiator cap mascot was now optional.

Production of the car ended in 1959 with the introduction of the Mark VII. The succesor was called the Mark VII because there was already a Bentley Mark VI on the market. A version of the Jaguar Mark V with the XK engine had been designated as the Mark VI, but it is thought that only two were built.

The origin of the Mark IV and the V names is somewhat a mystery as there were no Mk I – Mk IV and the Mk IV designation was only given to its predecessor at the launch of the V.

Jaguar Mk V left its screen print in 2013, in the movie A New York Heartbeat, the story of the heroic journey of a young gang leader in New York in the late 1950s, starring actor Eric Roberts.

This car has 1.303 miles (approx. 2,097 km) on board.
