The Cadillac Eldorado is a luxury car manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 1952 until 2002 over 12 generations. The Cadillac emblem consists of two symbols combined. It is the coat of arms of Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac and his wife, Marie Therese Coin-Coin. Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac was a French soldier who came to America in the 17th century to fight in the French and Indian War.
The name Eldorado derives from the Spanish words “el dorado” which translates “the golden one”, a name given to the legendary chiefs of South American Indian tribes.
The car exhibited at Tiriac Collection is part of the ninth generation series, that was produced from 1971 until 1978. It is a comfortable cruiser featuring a massive 8.2 L V8 engine that pumps out a spine tingling 190hp, mated to a smooth 3-speed automatic transmission.
The year 1976 was to be the final year for the Eldorado convertible and the car was heavily promoted by General Motors as "the last American convertible". Some 14,000 would be sold, many purchased as investments.
Having received a major facelift the previous year, the Eldorado for 1976 received only minor styling changes, including a new grille, a small Cadillac script on the hood face, revised taillamp lenses and new black painted wheel covers. The top-of-the-line American car means that this has power everything from a power top, bench seat, windows, and antenna, this is very luxurious for 1976.
The interior is spacious and comfortable with matching blue leather seats and sharp looking wooden look trim, all of which is in amazing shape. The dash looks very nice, and everything appears to be in perfect working order. The seats are comfortable and are well padded.
Its large body measured 571 cm long and 203 cm wide. These Eldos were dressed in 21 different body colors, with six convertible-top color selections. Merlin Plaid, Lush Velour and Mansion Knit for non-leather interiors and 11 leather choices were available.
This car has covered 9.200 Km.
