This Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 1 is the flagship of the range and differs only cosmetically to the standard model. According to the tradition the Edition 1 was only built for the first 12 months after the model's launch.

The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Emperor of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) and offered as a civilian version in 1979. The G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced vehicles in Daimler's history, with a span of 40 years. Only the Unimog surpasses it.
The 2019 Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 1, adds exclusive design elements and black/red accents both inside and out, lending the Edition 1 model a sportier profile than the rest of the model lineup. Because of its distinctive appearance, the Edition 1 model is the flagship model of the 2019 G-Class lineup.
This Edition 1 model’s exterior design elements include design Night Black Magno paint with contrasting matte Graphite Grey sports stripes along the body, exterior mirror housings with a decorative red stripe, and matte black 22 inch forged wheels with a cross-spoke design and red-painted rim flanges. For the interior, the German manufacturer has come with red accents. The color was used for the topstitching on the dashboard, rear seats, door panels, and center console. Red contrasting topstitching is also located on the front sport seats in Nappa leather and on the AMG-performance steering wheel.
Underneath this new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 1 lies the same motor packaged into the standard G 63: a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 585 HP and 850 Nm of torque pushing the luxury truck from 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds.
