Based on the 911 GT3 R, Porsche has created a phenomenal track car that combines a design-led approach with the technical benefits gained from not having to follow standard competition rules. A car that celebrates the pure joy of racing.The 911 GT3 R rennsport boasts a sensationally low target power-to-weight ratio of 1,240 kg to 456 kW (620 hp) – that’s a remarkable 2 kg per horsepower. This places it beyond the homologation restrictions encountered in racing series, so anyone who gets to drive it can fully concentrate on its pure performance.
Like other limited-edition vehicles, the 911 GT3 R rennsport offers a palette of customisation options. Choose, for example, from seven distinct colours, opt for one of the three exclusive paint designs or go with the most flawless colour Rennsport has to offer: pure carbon. This vehicle offers many exclusive features, from the specially designed exterior constructed from carbon fibre materials to its racing modified interior, the 911 GT3 R rennsport stands out from the crowd, one of the most eye-catching elements is the sizeable rear wing. It not only creates impressive downforce numbers, this imposing aero is also a nod to a Porsche motorsport legend of the past – the Brumos Porsche 935/77 raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1978.
The 4.2-litre six-cylinder boxer engine of the 911 GT3 R, a power unit that revs up to 9,400 rpm, benefits in particular from the removal of the restrictions imposed by the regulations: it achieves a power peak of up to 456 kW (620 PS). This corresponds to a power output of as much as 148 hp per litre of displacement – a record for a naturally aspirated engine of a GT racing car. It is thus significantly more powerful than the original power unit, which can develop up to 416 kW (565 PS) in the 911 GT3 R. The water-cooled four-valve engine with direct petrol injection has been designed to run on E25 fuels.
All this is possible thanks to a custom-made transmission, its unrestricted rennsport engine developed based on the 911 GT3 R engine with higher compression, rennsport-specific camshafts, and pistons, an exclusive and unsilenced rennsport exhaust system, the exclusive performance upshift function that optimises the revs per minute during upshifting, exclusive BBS wheels and Michelin tyres that were designed and built specifically for this vehicle and so much more.
