A Porsche 918 Spyder becomes the newest exhibit at the Țiriac Collection

As of August, the Țiriac Collection gallery includes a Porsche 918 Spyder, an ultra-high-performance supercar produced in a limited series of only 918 units. The plug-in hybrid, bearing chassis number 378, was specially commissioned for Mr. Ion Țiriac.

A worthy successor to Porsche’s legacy of ultra-exclusive sports models — including the 904 Carrera GTS, 959, 911 GT1, and Carrera GT — the 918 Spyder joins several other notable Porsche vehicles already housed in the Țiriac Collection:

• Porsche Diesel Super S308 Tractor (1958)
• Porsche 356A (1957)
• Porsche 356B (1961)
• Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 (1989)

The Porsche 918 Spyder is currently among the fastest street-legal cars in the world, featuring race-bred technology and a chassis and body made entirely from carbon fiber. A version equipped with the Weissach Package completed the Nürburgring Nordschleife — one of the most demanding racetracks in the world, known as the “Green Hell” — in just 6 minutes and 57 seconds, breaking the previous record of 7 minutes.

This unit is powered by a high-performance 4,593cc V8 engine, delivering 608 HP, and is paired with two next-generation electric motors that add over 279 HP, for a combined system output of 887 HP. Thanks to its hybrid powertrain, the 918 Spyder is capable of navigating city streets with zero emissions and near-silent operation.

With all-wheel drive, the car sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, consumes only 3.1 liters per 100 km, and reaches a top speed of 345 km/h, all while weighing just 1,685 kg.
