The Jaguar XK150 is a sports car produced between 1957 and 1961. It was a radical redesign of the XK140 and 120 it replaced. Jaguar described the roadster as “the same as the Hardtop Coupe, but with a convertible top, covered in the finest mohair, with fully lined interior, completely concealing the hood mechanism. We added seating accommodations in the rear for two children or one adult.”
But the main subject of attention was the car’s exterior.
Jaguar’s standard 3.4L engine was equipped with the new “B” type DOHC cylinder head for the XK150. It produced 190 hp and later, in the spring of 1958, power grew even more to 250 hp.
In 1960, the capacity of the engine was increased to 3.8L and was available in two variations, a standard 220 hp and an “S” tune with 265 hp. The later option would give the car a top speed of 217 Km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 Km/h in 7 seconds.
Also in 1960, Dunlop 4 wheel disc brakes were added and either wire wheels or pressed steel wheels could be specified.
Body styles included coupe, convertible and roadster. Production ended in October 1960 with 2,265 roadsters, 4,445 coupes and 2,672 dropheads being made.
