Full description

Vespa is a scooter brand produced by Piaggio, an Italian motor vehicle manufacturer which in the first half of the 20th century produced trains, aircraft engines, aeroplanes, trucks, trams or buses. The name means wasp in Italian.

The plant was destroyed by Allied bombing in World War II, so production activities were relocated to the Biella area. After the war, the owner decided to diversify the company's activities outside the aeronautical industry to address a perceived need for a modern, affordable mode of transport for the Italian mass market.

One such product was the scooter Vespa T5. It was a true sportive scooter featuring one cylinder engine allowing for greatly improved power and cooling, and higher revs, compared to its largeframe cousin, the PX. Cosmetically, the Vespa T5 featured a rectangular head light and an updated headset console which included a fuel level indicator and a digital or analog tachometer.

Like classic Vespas, the scooter had full steel body panels and weighed around 112 kg.

This particular Vespa T5 belonged to former tennis player Ilie Năstase and has covered 1,371 kilometres
