The famous American pilot, Carroll Shelby, who built the Shelby Cobra and helped Ford to defeat Ferrari at Le Mans (and Sebring and Daytona, for those keeping score), was a racer who competed at the highest level of motorsport. The car that began the legend of Carroll Shelby as a driver is a 1949 MG TC.
The TC Midget was the first post war MG launched in 1945. It was exported to the United States, even though only ever built in right-hand drive. The export version had slightly smaller US specification sealed-beam headlights and larger twin rear lights, as well as turn signals and chrome-plated front and rear bumpers.
The first T-type MG’s introduced was the TA, which set the style for MG’s sports cars for the next 20 years, featured an upright chrome grille, deep-cut doors and a slab-shaped petrol tank at the rear. Lightweight two-seater bodies and modified suspensions made the cars very nimble, and a “works” racing program spread their fame during the late 1930s. In turn, the more powerful, shorter-stroke 1,250 cc engine debuted with the release of the TB in 1939.
MG’s post war return came at the 1945 London Motor Show with the new TC, which was wider, heavier and more refined than the TB, finding great success in the burgeoning American sports car market.

A heart condition ended his driving career in 1960, after just nine amazing seasons behind the wheel. The car that began the legend of Carroll Shelby as a driver is a 1949 MG TC.
The MG TCs became popular in America once the soldiers came back from the World War II. They have noticed these cars in Europe, and thus the market opened for them in US.
This car has covered 2,395 miles.
