In 2017, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS set a record at the Nürburgring, achieving a time of 6:43. This accomplishment represented an improvement of 4.747 seconds compared to the previous record. The Porsche 911 GT2 RS once again broke the production car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, completing the longer 12.9-mile circuit in just 6 minutes and 43.300 seconds.

The new 911 GT2 RS is simply the most powerful 911 ever built by Porsche, with the performance level of a super sports car. Its design combines the aerodynamic requirements of optimum downforce and maximum air supply. Its consistent lightweight construction makes it a pure athlete. Its racing chassis with excellent cornering stability gives the new 911 GT2 RS those crucial additional seconds.
For the performance of a highly powerful sports car such as the 911 GT2 RS, weight is just as essential as the drivetrain. Porsche has therefore weighed every component and permanently sought the lightest functional materials. Also, Porsche used lightweight glass for the first time – for the rear and rear side windows. This material is just as light as polycarbonate and extremely scratch and fracture resistant. Inside, the new 911 GT2 RS also features lightweight door trims and door pulls.
The 911 GT2 RS is powered by the six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine at the rear, four-valve technology, variable turbine geometry (VTG) with large turbochargers, direct fuel injection (DFI) and Vario Cam Plus. With a displacement of 3,800 cm3, the engine produces an impressive 515 kW (700 hp) at 7,000 rpm. Maximum rpm is 7,200, and the maximum torque of 750 Nm is available from just 2,500 rpm.
The speedometer reaches up to 400 km/h, and the maximum speed is 340 km/h. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes place in just 2, 8 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in only 8, 3 seconds, and hitting 300 km/h in 22,1 seconds.
