In 1950, Cadillac finally surpassed Packard for good to virtually own the American luxury market for several generations. The same year, Cadillac also boosted its performance image when Briggs Cunningham entered a new, stock appearing 1950 Cadillac coupe in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France and finished tenth overall – a performance unmatched by any other luxury car – tearing down the Mulsanne Straight at around 120 mph and averaging 81.5 mph for the entire event.

For those wanting to step up to a convertible or Coupe DeVille hardtop, it was necessary to order the Series 62, which featured a greater range of options and more exterior trim. The 1950 Series 62 model featured a lower and sleek body, one piece windscreen and the “Hydra-Matic” automatic transmission as standard. Also, power windows were available.
This particular car comes from the Karl Blade Collection and was restored by Cadillac specialist FEN Enterprises of New York. It has won the Hearshy AACA Award 3 times.
