The Mark. IV was a 1945 relaunch of the pre-war saloon model built by SS cars Ltd. The name of the company was changed to Jaguar in 1945, because of the connotations of the use of the SS name by Nazi Germany.
This particular unit was fully restored by its previous owner between 1991 and 1996 in Geneva, Switzerland.
All models of the Mark. IV were built on separate chassis frame and were available with either a 1 ½ liter 4-cylinder engine, a 2 ½ liter or a 3 ½ liter engine. The bigger engine was equipped with an electrically operated, automatic cold start choke.
The cars were only designated as the Mark Four after the introduction of the Mk V. Before, they were known only as the 1 ½ , 2 ½ and the 3 ½ Jaguars.
Body styles were available as spacious saloon or a 2-door drophead coupe.
Production ended in 1949 when the Mark V was launched.
